The Shawshank Redemption Ethical Analysis
The purpose of this website is to provide an ethical analysis for the 1994 movie "Shawshank Redemption" starring Tim Robbins (Andy Dufresne) and Morgan Freeman (Ellis "Red" Redding). Andy Dufresne is a former Vice President of a large Portland bank, and a generally smart and wealthy man. He was wrongly accused of killing his wife and her new lover, and sentenced to two consecutive life terms in the Shawshank Prison for the crime. Ellis "Red" Redding is already a long-term inmate (serving for murder) at Shawshank Prison when Andy Dufresne arrives there. The duo begins to strike up a friendship when Andy seeks out Red's help in acquiring a rock hammer to aid in his long-term escape plan. Life in Shawshank Prison will prove to be anything but easy, as corruption is around every corner. As will be exemplified to a larger extent in the "Corruption" tab, pray that your warden is nothing like Mr. Norton if you should ever wind up in prison.
